Hell Families

Hell Week at Bryn Mawr is nearly half way done.

As a junior I am neither a heller nor a hellie, but it has been so much fun to watch my freshman, sophomore and transfer friends experience Hell Week for the first and second time.

It’s also been wonderful to see my hell family grow. As a heller I had three hellies, and it’s been quite a treat to meet my grand hellies, 7 in all.

It’s also been amazing to see Leah, freshman and my best friend from home experience all that this tradition has to offer.

Hell Week at Bryn Mawr really encourages sisterhood, but quickly, I’d like to note one hell family composed almost entirely of biological sisters.

One of my best friends here, Eliza, has an older sister, Anna, who graduated from Bryn Mawr last year. She helled current senior Naznen, who then helled Eliza. Eliza then helled Naznen‘s sister, Nadera, a sophomore at Bryn Mawr, who is currently helling Megan, the younger sister of Eliza and my friend and fellow Mawrter, Katherine.

Sorry if that was difficult to follow but I think this hell line shows the strength of the Bryn Mawr community, especially in that, in my experience, so many younger siblings are drawn to Bryn Mawr because of the positive experiences their older sisters have had.

I am currently sorting through the (what seems like a million) photos I’ve taken and will post some soon!
